Devil with a Moustache

I was just going to say that I may have to start skipping topics because I'm finding it hard to keep up. But now it's a skip week maybe this is the time to do those topics I've missed!

Devil with a Moustache.

The Gunslinger - Andy

"The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed." The end of the world is actually a Gunslinger,  Roland Deschain, making his way across a disintegrating world on a quest to find the Dark Tower and the Crimson King.
BTW, I really am trying to catch up.

Zombie Evel Kinevel - Andy

He's was a celebrity once! I wanted to do an icon, so it was either Evel Kinevel or Elvis. Evel won.

2-1B aka That Surgical Droid - Andy

I love the crusty hand made robots as much as i love the rubber mask aliens.
Anway, I hope to have a little more time for my Houdini's posts in coming weeks. Cheers!

Greedo - Andy

It's sad to think we've lost rubber mask monsters in movies. Poor ol' Greedo.

I wish I had more time for these. But I don't so you get a real quick Greedo.

Rebel Fleet Trooper - Andy

I, like Will, love the first scene of A New Hope but I can't help but feel sorry for the little guys that got mowed down by Vader and his Stormtroopers. I love their cumbersome helmets with their little antennas and their complete lack of any body armour.
I was going to to do an X-wing, but watching and re-watching the final scenes of A New Hope you quickly realise that the Rebel Fighters couldn't strategically outflank a turtle.

Stormtroopers - Andy

This started as a drawing exercise, but I've been enjoying the 'pop' elements at the moment so I just went with it. Zap!

Horse -Andy

I love Horse because of his child like ignorance. He doesn't need to understand the why's or hows; he just gets on with it. Point him in the right direction and all that.
Earl Leonard and I have been Horse and Fly'n for several years now and Horse is a character that still grows on me.
Thanks Egor for picking H&F for this week and thanks guys for indulging us!

Green Lantern -Andy

I wanted to do the opposite of last night's post.

Planet of the Apes

I read an interview with the director of the new POTA. In it he said how in the potential sequels he liked the idea of showing the actual war between man and ape and how the world is eventually taken over by the Apes. I liked that idea too, so that's what i wanted to draw. Go on, say it:
Gorilla warfare.

Cap - Andy

"When Captain America throws his mighty shield,
All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield.

If he’s led to a fight and a duel is due,
Then the red and white and the blue’ll come through

When Captain America throws his mighty shield."

Wolverine -Andy

Like Heath, I'm not the biggest Wolvie fan, but I do understand the allure of him as a character. Who wouldn't want retractable claws that slide out of your fists? Anyway, of the few stories I've actually read featuring the furry canadian the Golden Age X-Men Vs WildCATS was and is my favourite. That probably had more to do with the awe inspiring Travis Charest.
If i get a chance I'd like to colour this, but we'll see.

Batman - Andy

I had a strong vision in my mind for what i wanted for this piece and, to be honest, I don't think I achieved what my vision required. But I gave it a shot. Initially, I wanted to do a Batman Year One Mazzucchelli style drawing because I thought it fit nicely with the theme of Houdini's 'Year One' anniversary, but you get this instead.

Hellboy - Andy

Well I got there. I was sick last week and every time I tried to draw Hellboy he looked like a dude with goggles on his head. Started feeling better and he came to me straight away. Finally!

Tin Tin - Andy

If you haven't worked out yet I've been playing with light for the last few weeks. I wanted to do Tin Tin in space but I've done space a bit recently. Then I was going to put him in the depths of a dark Egyptian vault, but their wasn't enough background. So now he's in paris! Thanks google maps!
