Cruella Deville - Fast Eddy (Revised)

Hey guys, it's been a while since my last post, I've been a bit distracted with the writing of a graphic novel. But I've been working on this one since the Evil theme. I've been keen to play around with composition after reading a really good book on that subject. So I started off with this...

Making sure that the shapes related well with each other before going into fleshing out the character and adding details. I'm relatively happy with this final image but I'm also aware that something is wrong with it, although I can't put my finger on it. So if anyone has any ideas, they would be very welcome before I pull all my hair out...

And here is the revised one, I've removed a little of the fur coat on the left hand side and also cropped closer on the left hand side of the frame... (Thanks for the tips guys!)

  1. Man this is hot. HOT. My only guess is that maybe there is like 1cm too much on the left hand side? Great work. I love the working composition that you've included with the post too.

  2. Ah yes! Do you mean too much fur on the left hand side? I'll try it and get back to you. Stay tuned...

  3. i think he meant the left edge of the image.. bring it in a small amount, sonarrower. puts ur smoke closer to 1/3 than 12way, creating slightly more balance... but u could possibly bring in the fur a lil at the bottom o coat on left hand side.. looks good.. heaps of detail in that doorframe.. o_O
